Commonly used Pronouns for Absolute Beginners

 

 

I – Naenu

You - Nuvvu/Meeru

He - Athadu

She - Aame

We - Maemu or Manamu

They - Vaaru (Vaallu)

 

 

Weekly class program

 

Using the verb “say/tell” prepare sentences in following tenses:

 

Simple Past Tense (Positive and Negative)

 

Simple Present/Simple Future Tense (Positive and Negative)

 

Continuous Present Tense (Positive and Negative)

 

 

 

 

Say/Tell = cheppu – Verb in base form / imperative

 

Say/Tell = cheppandi (Imperative with respect/plural)

 

Don’t say/tell = cheppavaddhu or cheppaku

 

 

Simple Past Tense – Positive Sentences

 

e.g. I said/told. = Naenu cheppaanu.

 

He said/told. = Athadu cheppaadu

 

You said/told. (Plural) = Meeru cheppaaru.

 

They said/told = Vaaru cheppaaru

 

You said/told. (Singular) = Nuvvu cheppaavu.

 

She said/told = Aame cheppindhi.

 

We said/told = Maemu / Manamu cheppaamu.

 

Uncle said/told = Maamayya cheppaadu.

 

 

Simple Past Tense - Negative

 

e.g. I didn’t say/tell. = Naenu cheppalaedhu.

 

Cheppu + laedhu = cheppalaedhu

 

You didn’t say/tell. (Singular) = Nuvvu cheppalaedhu

 

You didn’t say/tell. (Plural) = Meeru cheppalaedhu

 

He didn’t say/tell. = Athadu cheppalaedhu.

 

She didn’t say/tell. = Aame cheppalaedhu.

 

We didn’t say/tell. = Manamu / maemu cheppalaedhu.

 

Younger brother didn’t say/tell. = Thammudu cheppalaedhu.

 

 

Simple Present/Simple Future Tense - Positive

 

e.g. I say/tell or I will say/tell. = Naenu chebuthaanu.

 

Cheppu => drop “ppu” ending and add “buthaanu” ending

 

 

We say/tell or We will say/tell. = Maemu/Manamu chebuthaamu

 

You say/tell or You will say/tell. (Singular) = Nuvvu chebuthaavu

 

He says/tells or He will say/tell. = Athadu chebuthaadu

 

You say/tell or You will say/tell. (Plural) = Meeru chebuthaaru.

 

She says/tells or She will say/tell. = Aame chebuthundhi.

 

They say/tell or They will say/tell. = Vaallu / Vaaru chebuthaaru.

 

Gowri says/tells or Gowri will say/tell. = Gowri chebuthundhi.

 

Grandfather says/tells me or Grandfather will say/tell me. = Thaatha naaku chebuthaadu. / Thaatha gaaru naaku chebuthaaru.

 

Simple Present/Simple Future Tense - Negative

 

e.g. I don’t say/tell or I will not say/tell – Naenu cheppanu

 

You don’t say/tell or You will not say/tell. (Singular) = Nuvvu cheppavu

 

You don’t say/tell or You will not say/tell. (Plural) = Meeru chepparu

 

He doesn’t say/tell or He will not say/tell. = Athadu cheppadu

 

She doesn’t say/tell or She will not say/tell. = Aame cheppadhu.

 

We don’t say/tell or We will not say/tell. = Manamu / Maemu cheppamu.

 

They don’t say/tell or We will not say/tell. = Vaaru chepparu.

 

Continuous Present Tense - Positive

 

e.g. I am saying/telling. = Naenu chebuthoo unnaanu.

 

You (Singular) are saying/telling. = Nuvvu chebuthoo unnaavu.

 

He is saying/telling. = Athadu chebuthoo unnaadu.

 

You (Plural) are saying/telling. = Meeru chebuthoo unnaaru.

 

She is saying/telling a story. = Aame oka katha chebuthoo unnadhi.

 

We are saying/telling. = Maemu / Manamu chebuthoo unnaamu.

 

They are saying/telling lies. = Vaaru abadhaalu chebuthoo unnaaru.

 

Continuous Present Tense - Negative

 

e.g. I am not saying/telling. = Naenu cheppadam laedhu.

 

Cheppu + adam = cheppadam

 

We are not saying/telling. = Maemu cheppadam laedhu.

 

You (singular) are not saying/telling. = Nuvvu cheppadam laedhu.

 

He is not saying/telling that. = Athadu adhi cheppadam laedhu.

 

You (plural) are not saying/telling the truth. = Meeru nijam cheppadam laedhu.

 

She is not saying/telling. = Aame cheppadam laedhu.

 

They are not saying/telling us. = Vaaru / Vallu cheppadam laedhu.
