Usage of “నాకు” (naaku)and “నన్ను” (nannu) (me) in Telugu

Both Naaku’ (నాకు) and Nannu’ (నన్ను) are used as objects in Telugu. Both Naaku and Nannu mean mein English. However, Naaku is used when you have to refer to something that belongsto you, whereas,Nannu is used when we are referring to ourselves. We can differentiate Naaku by adding ‘to’ or ‘for’ to me,i.e. ‘to meor for mewhereas Nannu is just me’.

Below are some example sentences to know the differences:

·         Amma nannupilichindhi. = Mother called me.

The question for the above answer is Amma evarinipilichindhi? (అమ్మ ఎవరిని పిలిచింది) - Whom did mother call?

·         Amma naakueevishayamcheppindhi. – Mother told this matter to me.

·         Amma evarikieevishayamcheppindhi? - To whom did the mother tell this matter?

If you observe the above sentences, you can notice that nannuis used like mein English whereas naakuis withthe addition of some preposition like ‘for’ or ‘to,’ here to me.It even can remain as Iin some situations where it is used as the subject.

Observe the following examples:

Naakueevishayamtheliyadhu. – I dont know this matter.

Nannueevishayamgurinchiadagavaddhu. Dont ask me about this matter.
