Using "couldn't" for ability in the past

 Verb conjugation rules: If the root verb ends with "యు" (yu), then remove that end and replace it by adding "య" (ya). In this lesson, we are talking about the verb "వ్రాయు" (Vraayu) (Write). So, when we make the changes, the verb becomes “వ్రాయ” (Vraaya). To use it in a sentence, we need to add an additional personal suffix, as shown in the below table.

Example: వ్రాయు (Vraayu) ---> వ్రాయ (vraaya) + లేకపోయాను (laekapoyaanu) ---> వ్రాయలేకపోయాను (vraayalaekapoyaanu)

 

Note: If the action is performed by the subject you may remove the ending letter "యు" (yu) from the root verb and replace it by "సుకో" (suko). To make it as a complete verb, we need to add an additional personal suffix, as shown below.

Example: వ్రాయు (Vraayu) ---> వ్రాసుకో (vraasuko) + లేకపోయాను (laekapoyaanu) ---> వ్రాసుకోలేకపోయాను (vraasukolaekapoyaanu)
