In this lesson, you will learn third-person pronouns in Telugu. The use of pronoun depends upon the distance between you and a person you want to talk about.
Let us take the example of Prasad (name of a
male person). If Prasad is
standing near, then you’ll use the pronoun “ఇతడు” (Ithadu) / “ఈయన” (Eeyana) / “వీడు” (Veedu), and if he is
away from you, then you’ll use the pronoun “అతడు” (Athadu) / “ఆయన” (Aayana) / “వాడు” (Vaadu).
Let us take the example of Swathi (name of a
female person). If Swathi is
standing near, then you’ll use the pronoun “ఈమె” (Eeme) / “ఈవిడ” (Eevida) / “ఇది” (Idhi), and if she
is away from you, then you’ll use the pronoun “ఆమె” (Aame) / “ఆవిడ” (Aavida) / “అది” (Adhi).
Here is the description for the usage
of each third person pronoun:
·
Athadu (అతడు) (he) is used more in written or classical language and daily
conversations.
·
Aayana (ఆయన) / Eeyana (ఈయన) (he) is used to show respect towards older
people, i.e., the word is
used when talking about men older than you to show politeness.
·
Vaadu (వాడు) / veedu (వీడు) (he) is used in informal situations or when speaking about men younger
than you.
·
Aame (ఆమె) / Eeme (ఈమె) (she) is used more in written or classic language and daily
conversations.
·
Aavida (ఆవిడ) / Eevida (ఈవిడ) is used to show respect for older women.
·
Adhi (అది) / idhi (ఇది) is used to talk about women younger than you. Adhi and idhi are also used to denote ‘it,’ i.e., the things
or objects.
