We usually use a single verb to describe the workand action of the subject. But, sometimes, compound verbs or two verbs are used in a sentence to generate a more precise meaning or combined meaning.
Here
is an example for you to understand.
Ø Naenupusthakamchadhivaanu. (నేను పుస్తకం చదివాను) – I read a book.
Ø In
the above sentence, there is only one verb,‘chadhuvu’ (చదువు).
Ø Naenupusthakamchadhivaeshaanu(నేను పుస్తకం చదివేశాను) – I read up a book.
In
the above sentence, there are two verbs ‘chadhuvu’ (చదువు) and ‘vaeyu’ (వేయు).
In
the first sentence, the sentence reveals the general sense of completion of
reading a book, and in the second sentence, it reveals the accurate sense with
the use of a compound verb. Both
show the past tense, but there is a difference in the sense of both actions.
‘Vaeyu’ can be added to other verbs too to
change the sense of action. Here
are some examples:
Ø Choochu(చూచు) - to see– choosivaeyu/ choosaeyu(చూసివేయు / చూసేయు) – to see up
Ø Thinu(తిను) – to eat – thinivaeyu/ thinaeyu(తినివేయు / తినేయు) – to eat up
Ø Thragu(త్రాగు) – to drink – thragiveyu/ thraagaeyu(త్రాగివేయు / త్రాగేయు) – to drink up
Ø Vacchu(వచ్చు) – to come – vacchiveyu/ vaccheyu(వచ్చివేయు / వచ్చేయు) – to come up
You
can add ‘vaeyu’ (వేయు) to any verb to change its sense of
action.
