In this lesson, you will learn about ‘kaadhu’ (కాదు) and ‘raadhu’ (రాదు).
‘Kaadhu’ (కాదు) is generally used for answering‘yes’ and ‘no’ type questions. Yes,
means ‘avunu’ (అవును) and no means ‘Kaadhu’ (కాదు).
If
you have to choose the choice of answer between yes and no, and if your answer
is no, then in such cases,‘Kaadhu’ (కాదు)will
be used.
Some
examples:
1. Ramumanchivaadu(రాము మంచివాడు) – Ramu is a good boy.
Avunu(అవును) – Yes.
Kaadhu(కాదు) – No.
2. Sarala
baagapaaduthundhi(సరళ బాగా పాడుతుంది) – Sarala sings well.
Avunu(అవును) – Yes.
Kaadhu(కాదు) – No.
So,
to give a negative answer to yes or no type questions,‘kaadhu’ is used.
‘Kaadhu’ is
also used in some negative statements.
Examples:
·
Vaadumanchivaadukaadhu(వాడు మంచివాడు కాదు) – He is not a good boy.
·
Aamethelivaindhikaadhu(ఆమె తెలివైంది కాదు)
–She
is not an intelligent girl.
So,
kaadhu can be used as both “no” and “not,” depending on the sense.
Another
negative sense word ‘raadhu’ (రాదు)
is
used to reveal the lack of capability of a person.
Examples:
·
Athadikieepanichaeyadamvacchaa?
(అతడికి ఈ పని చేయడం వచ్చా) – Can he do this work?
·
Raadhu(రాదు) – No.
·
Karunakivantachaeyadamvacchaa?
(కరుణకి వంట చేయడం వచ్చా) - Does Karuna know how to cook?
·
Raadhu(రాదు) – No.
So,
here ‘raadhu’ (రాదు) refers to the incapability of doing a thing by a person.
