How to make interrogative sentences such as “Did you go?”,“Did you read?”, “Did you come?”in Telugu - Second Person Singular

 Hope you have learned verbs in base form from another lesson. In Telugu, all the verbs in base form end with 'వు' (u) sound. By changing the end sound of the verb, and by using the below-given sentence structure, you can make many sentences easily. For example, observe the following sentence structure:

Did you + (Verb in Base Form) + (Object)? = Meeru+ (Object) + (Write the Telugu verb in base form and change the end sound 'వు' (u) to 'ఆ' (aa) and add 'వా' (vaa) sound at the end.

Example sentence: Did you bring books? = నువ్వు పుస్తకాలు తెచ్చావా? (Nuvvupusthakaaluthechaavaa?)

Bring means తెచ్చు (thecchu). It is the base form of the verb. As mentioned above, we changed the end sound 'వు' (u) to 'ఆ' (aa) and added the second person singular personal interrogative suffix 'వా' (vaa).

So, తెచ్చు (thecchu) became తెచ్చావా? (thechaavaa?)

Below are the examples of sentences made using the above structure:

1.   Did you listen to that song? = నువ్వు ఆ పాట విన్నావా? (Nuvvu aa paatavinnaavaa?)

2.   Did you go there? = నువ్వు అక్కడికి వెళ్ళావా? (Nuvvuakkadikivellaavaa?)

3.   Did you speak with him? = నువ్వు అతడితో మాట్లాడావా? (Nuvvuathadithomaatlaadaavaa?)

4.   Did you stand at the gate? = నువ్వు గేట్ దగ్గుర నిలబడ్డావా? (Nuvvu gate dhaggaranilabaddaavaa?)

5.   Did you sing a song? = నువ్వు పాట పాడావా? (Nuvvupaatapaadaavaa?)

6.   Did you keep a plate there? = నువ్వు అక్కడ పళ్ళెం పెట్టావా? (Nuvvuakkadapallempettaavaa?)

7.   Did you read that book? = నువ్వు ఆ పుస్తకం చదివావా? (Nuvvu aa pusthakamchadhivaavaa?)

8.   Did you buy a dress for me? = నువ్వు నా కోసం ఒక డ్రెస్ కొన్నావా? (Nuvvunaakosamoka dress konnaavaa?)

9.   Did you drink this coffee? = నువ్వు ఈ కాఫీ త్రాగావా? (Nuvvuee coffee thraagaavaa?)

10.  Did you send the letter to her? = నువ్వు ఆమెకు ఉత్తరం పంపించావా / పంపావా? (Nuvvuaamekuvuttharapampinchaavaa/ pampaavaa?)

11.  Did you talk to him? = నువ్వు అతడితో మాట్లాడావా? (Nuvvuathadithomaatlaadaavaa?)

12.  Did you give money to him? = నువ్వు అతడికి డబ్బులు ఇచ్చావా? (Nuvvuathadikidabbuluicchaavaa?)

13.  Did you cry for him? = నువ్వు అతడి కోసం ఏడ్చావా? (Nuvvuathadikosamaedchaavaa?)

14.  Did you walk today? = నువ్వు ఈరోజు నడిచావా? (Nuvvueerojunadichaavaa?)

15.  Did you call me? = నువ్వు నన్ను పిలిచావా? (Nuvvunannupilichaavaa?)

16.  Did you win that match? = నువ్వు ఆ మ్యాచ్ గెలిచావా? (Nuvvu aa match gilichaavaa?)

17.  Did you take a book from them? = నువ్వు వారి దగ్గర నుండి పుస్తకం తీసుకున్నావా? (Nuvvuvaaridhaggaranundipusthakamtheesukunnaavaa?)

18.  Did you sleep last night? = నువ్వు గత రాత్రి నిద్రపోయావా? (Nuvvugatharaathrinidhrapoyaavaa?)

19.  Did you meet him? = నువ్వు అతడిని కలిసావా? (Nuvvuathadinikalisaavaa?)

20.  Did you do that work? = నువ్వు ఆ పని చేసావా? (Nuvvu aa panichaesaavaa?)

21.  Did you see her? = నువ్వు ఆమెను చూసావా? (Nuvvuaamenuchoosaavaa?)

22.  Did you pour milk in the pot? = నువ్వు పాత్రలో పాలు పోసావా? (Nuvvupaathralopaaluposaavaa?)

23.  Did you write your homework? = నువ్వునీ హోమ్ వర్క్ వ్రాసావా? (Nuvvu nee homework vraasaavaa?)

24.  Did you put onion in this? = నువ్వు ఇందులో ఉల్లిపాయ వేసావా? (Nuvvuindhulovullipaayavaesaavaa?)

25.  Did you wash your clothes? = నువ్వు బట్టలు ఉతికావా? (Nuvvubattaluvuthikaavaa?)
