How to say ‘Please’ in Telugu

 “Please” is translated as “దయచేసి”-Dhayachaesi in Telugu. But if you add the suffix ‘andi’ at the end of the sentence, it’s not necessary to use the word ‘dhayachaesi.’ The suffix ‘andi’ indicates respect. So, in Telugu, ‘andi’ is used commonly. Rather than using ‘Dhayachaesi (దయచేసి), konchem (కొంచెం) is used colloquially.

Please close the door. - కొంచెం తలుపు మూయండి. Usually, konchem means some, but here it is used as a substitution for the word ‘please’.

That means whenever we use please in a sentence in Hindi, noramlly we use क्रुपया in (kripaya). However, there is no need to use क्रुपया (kripaya) in Hindi similar to the way we use ‘please’ in English. This is because sometimes usage of ‘please’ in English means of course or sure. So, in such cases Hindi or Telugu words or sentences are to be used based on the contextual meaning of that particular phrase or sentence; but not just the literal meaning of the please.

ఆంగ్లంలో ’ప్లీజ్’ ను వాడినప్పుడు సాధారణంగా దయచేసి అని వాడటం జరుగుతుంది. అయితే వాక్యం చివరలో ఉన్న క్రియకు ’అండి” అని చేర్చటం ద్వారా ‘దయచేసి’ అని వాడకుండా ఉండవచ్చు. అండి అనేది గౌరవవాచకం. దీనిని తెలుగులో సాధారణంగా వాడటం జరుగుతుంది. అయితే వాడుక భాషలో ’కొంచెం’ అనే దానిని కూడా ’దయచేసి’ కి బదులుగా వాడటం జరుగుతుంది. అయితే కొన్నిసార్లు ఆంగ్లంలో ’ప్లీజ్’ ను తప్పకుండా అనే అర్థంలో వాడటం జరుగుతుంది. అలాంటప్పుడు ’ప్లీజ్’ కు ఉన్న ’దయచేసి’ అనే అర్థం కాకుండా దానిని ఏ సందర్భంలో ఉపయోగించటం జరిగిందో, ఆ సందర్భంలో ఉన్న అర్థాన్ని మాత్రమే వాడాలి.
