First-person singular personal pronoun in Telugu

In this lesson, you will learn first-person pronoun in Telugu. This lesson will help you to tell your name and basic information in Telugu.

The first person pronoun in English is “I” as in ”I am _______.”  Telugu equivalent for English “I” is “నేను (Naenu).”

“am” is a “be” verb. Together “I am” translates to “నేను ____ ఉన్నాను.” (Naenu ________ vunnaanu.) in Telugu. But in this context, you don’t need to use the verb “vunnaanu”. In place of “vunnaanu,” you need to add the suffix “nu”/ “ni” (after your name/profession). It can be used, as shown in this example: “నేను రామారావును.” (Naenu Ramaraonu.). Here ‘Ramarao’ is the name, and ‘nu’ is the suffix. You will learn more about “nu”/ “ni” suffix in the upcoming lessons.

Telugu follows the “Subject-Object-Verb” format. All Telugu sentences end with verbs. ఉన్నాను (vunnaanu) is a Telugu “be verb” like “am” in English. It is used only for first-person pronouns.
