When and how to use the Telugu word “గానీ” (gaanee) (but)

 The word Gaanee’ (గానీ) is also equal to the word Kaanee’(కానీ). Both Gaaneeand Kaaneeare synonymous. ‘Kaani’ (కాని) or Gaani’ (గాని) can also be used in their place. It is quite common in the Telugu language to use long letters, especially to stress a syllable. All the above four words have the same meaning. ‘Gaaneeis generally used in the sense of but.’ (గానీ అనేది సాధారణంగా but అనే అర్థంలో వాడటం జరుగుతుంది). In other words, if a statement whether positive or negative, if there is an exception to it, the word Gaaneeis used.

Example sentences:

I asked her to visit my home, but she does not come. – నేను ఆమెను మా ఇంటికి రమ్మన్నాను కానీ ఆమె రాలేదు. (Naenuaamenu maa intikiorammannaanu, kaaneeaameraalaedhu.)

The bird has no legs, but it is walking. – ఆ పక్షికి కాళ్ళు లేవు గానీ అది నడుస్తోంది. (Aa pakshikikaallulaevugaaneeadhinadusthondhi.)

If you observe the above examples, the first statement has some exception, which is followed by butin the next sentences. You can replace gaaneewith any of the above mentioned other words
